There are no speculations about a possible eviction of the Hamburg showcase branch by the insolvent shoe retailer Görtz. Several media, including the Hamburger Abendblatt, report on an impending evacuation of the parent company in Spitalerstrasse.

However, a spokesman for the provisional insolvency administrator Gideon Böhm rejected these rumors at the request of Fashionunited. The branch is still open, he emphasized. There are currently constructive discussions with the landlord. It was also agreed that all expressions of interests of potential investors will be forwarded directly to the landlord for taking over the branch directly.

“We understand the landlord’s interest in legal clarification, since the Görtz management has no longer made rent payments several months before the bankruptcy application,” said the spokesman for the insolvency administrator.

However, there seems to be an official legal decision since July 8, 2024. According to the Hamburg Regional Court, a default judgment was issued that day, against which no objection was lodged. The plaintiff was the GbR Remperhäuser. According to the judgment, Görtz Holding GmbH must vacate the approximately 2,400 square meter area in the “Semperhäuser” (Spitalstraße 10, 12 / Lilienstraße 5, 7 and 9) accounting and hand over all the key to the applicant.

Görtz reported bankruptcy on January 21 – just under a year and a half after the investor’s entry and managing director Bolko Kissling. The Hamburg entrepreneur took over the traditional dealer in the summer of 2023 from the start -up family and led out of the previous bankruptcy. But since the takeover, no real stability has returned.

The company could now make a possible evacuation of its flagship store in Spitalerstrasse, as the new lifestyle concept premiered only in May 2023. For the first time, the retail concept not only includes shoes, but also clothing, which now makes up for around 40 percent of the range.
