The change is particularly special because Tamar Dongus had also signed twin sister in Stuttgart a few days ago. Fabienne Dongus was presented by VfB on Friday as a new player from summer. The central midfielder comes from TSG Hoffenheim. She had played with the Bundesliga club from 2013, as did her sister, who was moved abroad in 2018. Fabienne Dongus also played five caps for the German A national team.
Tamar Dongus emphasized on Monday in the announcement of the club: “I am very happy to be back at home, to speak Swabian and to play with my sister.” Both are fans of the association, had already worn VfB’s jersey in their childhood and were also in the stadium at the time.
The Dongus sisters were born in Böblingen, a district town, only about 20 kilometers from Stuttgart. In a joint interview that VfB Stuttgart published on its website, the two sisters emphasized how much they are looking forward to being able to wear the club’s jersey on the square and with their own name. Fabienne Dongus: “This is something very special, especially when you come here from the region and sympathized with VfB.”
VfB Stuttgart is in the first place in the table in the regional league south. The promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga is tangible. Mandy Islacker, Leonie Maier and Maxi Rall are already playing several former German internationals in the team.
