Cross-country skier Toenseth continues Norwegian winning streak – cross-country skiing – winter sports

A Swede between six Norwegians

What was the same as always: A Norwegian swept the fastest over the cross-country ski run over 15 kilometers in free style. In the three previous freestyle races over this distance, “Team Norge” had always secured victory. Kläbo won once, Simen Hegstad Krüger was the best twice. So this time the 30-year-old Tönseth, who had to stretch a lot to win in 31:57.6 minutes.

Swede Calle Halfvarsson was leading until halfway through the race but was unable to keep up the pace and had to let Toenseth go. He was nine seconds faster. Runners from Norway all took third to sixth place. Harald Oestberg Amundsen jumped onto the podium as third.

Moch collects a lot of points as 15th

As expected, the German cross-country skiers did not play first fiddle, but collected valuable points in the national ranking. There it was a question of defending eighth place, which will also secure six World Cup places in the coming season.

The best of Peter Schlickenrieder’s team was Friedrich Moch (WSV Isny) as 15th (+1:20.8 minutes). Janosch Brugger (WSG Schluchsee) ran the 19th fastest time (+ 1:31.7 minutes). Jonas Dobler (SC Traunstein), Lucas Bögl (SC Gaißach) and Florian Notz (TSV/SZ Böhringen) did not make it into the top 20.
