Claudio Belotti from Maren-Kessel has saved an owl from a wisse death. The beast was injured and sat among the lanes on the A2 while the traffic raced along. Claudio did not change his mind for a moment, put the brakes on the brake and ran to the rans our owl at the risk of his own life to free him from his plight. “I don’t think about that and just do that.”
Claudio rides on Thursday morning around half past eight on the A2 towards his work. Just at the Rosmalen exit, he spot a bird between the lanes. “I see that animal sitting and he moves. I brake and go up the emergency lane. I put my car back in it and I drove back.”
He gets out of his car, runs on the highway and grabs the bird firmly. “I arrested him against my chest, nice and warm. I saw that he was injured and he was completely shaking. I took him to the address where I was working.”
There he puts the animal in a box and closes it so that the owl can relax in the dark. Claudio starts to call all kinds of authorities, but does not get much further. “Many organizations did not take up or could not help me. Then I called the animal ambulance. They came to pick him up quickly.”
“Apart from some eye injury it seems to be not too bad.”
Eric and Nicole van de Dierenambulance Den Bosch have transferred the rans owl to Dierentehuis’ s-Hertogenbosch. The animal was thoroughly investigated there. “Apart from some eye injury it seems to be too bad” with the deviations of the owl, the animal ambulance on Facebook says.

They are happy with the salvation, but also warn rescuers not to run too large risks. “Although it is incredibly cool and we are also happy that the owl has been saved, we will keep saying it every time. People watch out what you do. It is dangerous. Fortunately it went well.”
“I don’t think about that and just do that.”
Claudio says he realizes that he has taken a great risk, but would do it again. “Probably that beast has been there for a few hours, because owls are especially active at night. I feel as bad as person when I see him and then let it sit. I don’t think about it and just do that.”
In fact, it is not the first time that he has taken such a rescue campaign, says the animal lover who has three dogs and a cat at home. A while ago he also managed to protect the A2 on the A2 on the A2. “I saw him walk on the road, stopped and put my car across the highway with the warning lights on. Then I managed to chase him off the road. Well, that’s how I am put together.”
The animal ambulance announced Claudio on Thursday that the animal is doing well. But he doesn’t know how it is now. “I am curious about that and will call them on Monday.”
