A special way of a security expert may suddenly sound tedious. However, it is a big help.
Mikko Hyppönen, Research Director of Withsecure, revealed his surprising way at the podcast. However, there is nothing exceptional about him in the security industry. Kimmo Haapala
Security Specialist and Information Security Company with Withsecure Research Director Mikko Hyppönen tells Phenomenon of podcast In a episode released in December, how he works when registering for new online services. Hyppönen was asked if he had any kind of ways that may seem strange or funny to the outside eye.
Hyppönen says he is not a particularly paranoid, or paranoid. Still, he is prepared for information leaks.
– When I get the registrant for different services, that is, I make a new user account in an online store or social media, I always give a different email address. I have a different email address everywhere, Hyppönen says.
– I have quite a lot of email address. But I don’t remember them either. I don’t have to remember, I use the management software that remembers them for me, he explains.
The advantage of this practice is that if there is a information leak in a service used by Hyppönen, and the service users’ IDs end up with criminals, they will not receive the email address and password used by Hyppönen.
– It cannot be directly deduced from who this person is and where everywhere else it has an account, because that same email address has no account anywhere else.
“This is something that security people often do, but normal people never do,” says Hyppönen.
In the episode, Hyppönen also tells about his attitude towards the development of artificial intelligence and security. See the interview below.
Hyppönen’s interview reported earlier Ilta-Sanomat.
