The Danish referee Jesper Madsen suddenly passed out in a game of the handball king class. Helpers quickly took care of him. The game was then even continued.

At this moment, the sport got into the background: in the handball champions League game between KC Vezprem (Hungary) and Sporting Lisbon (Portugal), the Danish referee Jesper Madsen suffered a collapse on Thursday.

It happened shortly before the half -time break when Madsen suddenly lost his balance during an attack by the guests and fell on the side of the hall. Apparently he noticed that something was wrong, the signal wanted to give a timeout, but could no longer keep on his feet. Players of both teams immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation, hectically waved medical staff.

Madsen had apparently lost consciousness for a short time. The horned helpers immediately took care of him, the Dane was brought out of the hall after several minute treatment duration on a stretcher and with applause from the audience. He held a water bottle in his hand and was responsive. There was initially no update to its health.

The game in Vezprem continued, Madsen’s colleague Mads Hansen passed them on to the rules. The hosts finally won 33:32. That was a minor matter that evening.

Madsen is considered one of the best referees in Europe, was used at the Olympic Games in Paris and at the European Championship in Germany last year.
