Darmstadt 98 has extended the expiring contract with one of the most recruited goalkeepers in club history and, according to the current status, the longest -serving professional: Marcel Schuhen (32) remains the second division club. How long did the Hesse not proclaim.
“‘Schuh’ has been an important part of this team for years, not only on, but also next to the square,” said sports director Paul Fernie. “He is a very ambitious and at the same time honest character who lives the club with its values and fills the role as one of the leaders. In his daily work, he also shows great will to learn and improve what is reflected in his achievements this season. We are therefore pleased that we will continue to work together in the future. “
Shoes came from SV Sandhausen to Darmstadt in summer 2019. Only the clubicons Fabian Holland (34) and Tobias Kempe (35) have been part of the team for a long time, but also have both contracts. In the goal, only two former final men of the lilies have deposited more missions in the TM database. Shoes could crack the 200 lily games brand at the beginning of the coming season. The Keeper, born in Rhineland-Palatinate, currently stands in 184 games for SV 98 (to the most registered players of the Darmstadt history with Holland and Kempe).
“I had very good conversations with Paul and Flo and I am absolutely convinced of the sporting orientation and the path taken,” said Schuhen about his extension. “In addition, my family feels extremely comfortable here and my two children were born in Darmstadt. It was therefore a sporting decision, but at the same time also one of the heart. I look forward to staying part of this special club. “
