Last year fewer permits were issued in Drenthe for the construction of a home. Compared to 2023, it is a decrease of 4 percent. This is according to figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

In 2024, Drenthe municipalities licensed a total of 1130 new -build homes. A year earlier there were almost 1200. In no other province were fewer permits for a new -build home last year than in Drenthe.

Nationally, the number of building permits has risen for the first time in years. Municipalities gave permission for the construction of more than 67,000 new homes. That is 21 percent more than in 2023, when the lowest number of permits was granted in years.

The vast majority of permits were issued in South Holland, for the construction of nearly 18,000 homes. More than half of that was for rental properties. Then Funnoord-Brabant (more than 11,000), Noord-Holland (almost 8900) and Gelderland (almost 6500). The biggest decline was in Groningen, from 1960 to more than 1700 permits last year.
