The biathlon World Cup 2025 has so far been disappointing for the German gentlemen. Even if the best result was available so far, nothing changed in singles over 20 kilometers.
The German biathletes must continue to wait for their first medal at the World Cup in Lenzerheide (Switzerland). The decimated DSV starters also went away empty-handed in the individual race over 20 kilometers.
While Justus Strelow and Philipp Nawrath had canceled their start, their colleagues could not ensure the longed-for liberation in the DSV camp.
As the best German, Philipp Horn (2 mistakes) landed in seventh place – with almost three minutes behind the winner. It was the best placement of a German gentleman at this World Cup. Horn had nothing to do with the medal award. Johannes Kühn missed the top ten after two mistakes.
Danilo Riethmüller missed the destination at the shooting range three times and thus the top 20. The same was for successor David Zobel. He delivered a flawless race over three shooting, but built a significantly better position with two mistakes in the last stop.
The victory went to the Frenchman Eric Perrot, who only allowed himself a shooting error. Behind it, Tommaso Giacomel from Italy surprisingly won the silver medal. Despite three mistakes at the shooting range, bronze also secured Quentin Fillot Maillet from France.
Two-time world champion Johannes Thingnes Bö experienced a debacle and went away empty-handed. The Norwegian top favorite, which was defending champion in this discipline and already won gold in sprint and persecution in Lenzerheide, rose directly to every medal chance with three mistakes in the first shoot. In the end there were even five tickets. He landed outside the top ten.
