One of the last women’s radio stations in Afghanistan closed: harsh media approach by Taliban

After the takeover by the Taliban, it didn’t take long before they tackled the media in the country. According to the UN, between August 2021 and September 2024, 336 cases of arrest, torture and intimidation were known. The Taliban focused specifically on announcers and forbidden women to participate in radio broadcasts in different provinces.
