They were told on October 18 from the GGD that an employee was infected. The Health Service then tracked down three more infections at the Goeree-Overflakkee branch in November and December in November and December.

It was then decided to expand the investigation, Van Loon Group writes. Then it turned out that even more employees were infected with TB. According to De Telegraaf, there are eighty.

Disease
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by a bacterium. The disease is usually in the lungs and can be contagious. Patients get complaints such as coughing, fever and difficulty breathing. The disease is easy to combat, but the treatment takes at least half a year. The disease can be fatal without treatment.

According to RIVM, not everyone who is infected also gets tuberculosis. That happens in 1 in 10 cases. It can take months or years for someone to fall ill. Whoever is infected with the bacterium, but does not get sick, is also not contagious according to RIVM.

Employees of the Van Loon Group are kept informed of the situation through sessions and information material from the GGD. According to the Van Loon Group, food safety is not in danger.
