Franziska Preuß continued her biathlon fairy tale at the World Cup in Lenzerheide: After silver in the sprint, the 30-year-old crowned herself over 10 kilometers to the world champion. The first World Cup single gold-the greatest success of her career for Prussia.

The Swede Elvira Öberg won silver, sprint world champion Justine Braisaz-Bouchet from France won bronze.

Franziska Preuß confidently triumphed, cleared all 20 slices in the four shooting deposits and in the end was almost 40 seconds in front of Öberg. At the World Cup, the ski hunter already won her third medal after bronze in the mixed relay and silver in sprint over 7.5 kilometers.

The top output position from the sprint used Prussia – especially because it showed nerves made of steel when shooting. Even when three French women were sitting on their neck in the meantime, she was not put off, especially at the last standing shooting, she hit dreamy.

“Dream came true today”

“It was really cool, the dream came true today. I would never have dreamed of going to the final round with a 50 second lead. I am very proud of myself,” said Preuss on “ZDF”. When shooting, “took one tick longer than the others, but my goal was four times zero.”

In contrast to her competitors, all of whom had to go into the penalty round. “I went through some valleys, but I never lost faith, had the feeling that I hadn’t completely called up my potential. I was often between fourth and ten, something was always missing. I’m so happy, I am so happy Can hardly describe it, “cheered Preuss.

Denise Herrmann-Wick celebrated the last German World Cup victory among women two years ago in the Oberhof sprint. The biathlon World Cup in Lenzerheide continues until February 23. Prussia offers other medal opportunities.

“It was close to the perfect pursuer. I would not set limits for the second week at Franzi. She trusts herself extremely,” said DSV sports director Felix Bitterling.

Franziska Preuss repeatedly thrown back

Prussia has traveled to the World Cup with high expectations. And it delivers – unlike in the previous years. Including the World Cup, it was already on the podium in 12 out of 16 individual races. So far it has been the best winter of your career.

For years, the Bavarian repeatedly threw infections and illnesses, she had to do without world championships and end it earlier. Only an operation of the sinuses last year after the end of the season brought the hoped -for improvement. Prussia is looser, white around her skills and radiates that too.
