Nature often always recovers its damage,
Like a spider its own threads
Although a whirlwind is still so powerful
The forest will be beautiful again
And sometimes the lightning makes a lot of fire
The green comes back after many hours
Humans brings nitrogen, greenhouse gas,
The oak dries out and grass becomes grass
But nature that can’t vote
Who should inhibit the deforestation?
Nature therefore cries heavy showers,
Leave emergency bell harder and harder “lazy”
There is a Luist’rend ear in Brabant
Natuurherstel continues energetically

On a dead or living Segrijnslak all centipedes, what happens there?
Famke Beeloo saw something very special while working in her garden. In that garden there was a segrin snail with, according to her young centipede. She thought the snail was still alive and she wondered if those centipede-Jonkies eat living snails.
That’s right. Millipots eat snails. But I don’t think they are a centipede larvae, but larvae of a million -leg. You can see that from the many legs on the segments. Millipots don’t have that many. In addition to snails, most centipede eat insects, worms, piss beds and spiders. All these prey are killed with special poison jaws.
But the animals at the Dead (at least, I think the snail is dead) Segrin snail are plant or waste eaters. They also live on decaying material, dead animals, ripe fruit, but also from carrots. The mouth parts of million legs are very special and completely adapted. They cannot bite, but make the food moist. Then they scrape the food in layers and absorb it through the mouth. In the garden, many species indulge in roots of plants or leaves. In addition, they also eat dead wood, algae and mushrooms and therefore dead animals. Million legs are very important soil animals that play a major role in every ecosystem. They clean up large amounts of dead vegetable material.
Found strange excret in a forest at Landgoed de Utrecht, who is it?
Lotte Hendrikx sent me a photo of an excrement, which she had come across in a forest on the Utrecht estate near Esbeek. Normally I immediately dare to write something about an excrement, but I had never seen this.
That also makes it so beautiful our nature, because I still discover new things and I think that never ends. Fortunately I have a good friend, Annemarie van Diepenbeek, who knows everything about droppings. She also came up with the answer. This is an excrement of a stone or tree marten after eating yew berries. Hence the bright red color. If you look closely, you will see the seeds a little twisted. Those seeds are just a miniature hazelnuts in terms of shape and color.
I mainly keep it on a stone marten. Stone martens are on the rise in Brabant. Almost every week I get a notification showing a stone marten, for example, see the video of Martie Leemans. Annemarie also reports that this ejector with the beautiful red color is a very fresh dropping, because they quickly become dull and brownish. The beauty is then finished and the content is also defamation, unless the taxus spots are still clearly visible.
Nest box cleaned in August, unfortunately dead animals in, how is that possible?
Yvonne Rommelaars, as it should be, cleaned her nest box in August 2024. Unfortunately she discovered a dead older bird in the nest box and a number of dead youngsters. In addition, a new litter was also made and she wonders what happened.
First of all, because of the heavy rainfall, many great tits, but other birds could also get enough food. Young great tits are in the beginning dependent on only insect food. The weather and the use of pesticides ensures fewer insects. It is also clear that in some areas there is an imbalance in the mineral offer. Research has shown that the number of reports of sick and dead tits has increased enormously.
In addition, the dying of one of the parents also has a negative consequence for the young animals. The fact that after that another bird wanted to build a new nest is also a sign that you always have to empty the nest boxes at the end of the breeding season, because otherwise the tits will continue to build.
