VfL Osnabrück consolidated its status on Saturday as the best second round team in the 3rd football league. The Lila-whites prevailed 5: 1 (2-0) at the long-range promoted promotion Hannover 96 II. VfL has been undefeated under coach Marco Antwerp for seven games.
Despite the away win, the Osnabrück’s lead on the relegation zone only increased to a small extent on the 24th matchday – from one to two points. The Hanoverians trained by Daniel Stendel are still penultimate with their 22 points.
Niehoff and Kayo bring Osnabrück 2-0 in the lead
The game in the Eilenriedestadion, where approximately 2,500 VfL fans provided a home game atmosphere for the purple and whites, quickly took the expected course. The Osnabrückers determined the action and pushed to the goal of the “Red”. They also came on some occasions, but they were not really good at first.
But that changed in the 29th minute: After Lars Kehl had conquered the ball against Lukas Wallner, he staged Niklas Niehoff with a chipball. The attacker sought to move alone on Hanover keeper Leon-Oumar. And with a low shot he overcame the native Osnabrück, who once stood between the posts for the Osnabrücker SC.
It came even better for the VfL: After the preparatory work by Kofi Amoako, Bryang Kayo pulled out of 18 meters with his right foot and shot the ball in the long corner – 2-0 for Osnabrück (37th).
Yellow-red card for Hanover’s debutant Aseko Nkili
If the situation with the deficit was not already difficult enough for the Hanoverians, she even deteriorated again a little later. Noel Aseko Nkili saw the yellow-red card in the 43rd minute due to repeated foul. So the debut of the 19 -year -old midfielder, which 96 II of Bayern Munich loaned, was a failed. Osnabrück also went into the break with the 2-0 lead.
Chakroun brings 96 II back …
After the restart, it seemed as if the game should ripple there until the final whistle and nothing significantly change at the end of the game. But the decimated hosts came back: after an inadequate attempt to clarify the Osnabrück Jannik Müller, Husseyn Chakroun shortened to 1: 2 (53.).
… but Goguadze makes everything clear for Osnabrück
The hosts’ hopes to one point only lasted up to the 75th minute. Nikki Goguadze, brought into the game at the second half of Antwerp, decided the game in favor of the guests with the 3: 1. And Goguadze even had the 4: 1 episode with a header – 96 keeper change helped vigorously (83.). Ultimately, Kayo made the 5-1 final score (88th) with his second goal. For VfL it is the third victory in a row.
