In terms of sport, Lindsey Vonn does not play a major role in the Ski World Cup. The focus is still on the former speed queen. The 40-year-old apparently affects the sometimes harsh criticism of her return.
With an emotional post on Instagram, Lindsey Vonn reacted to the sometimes sharp criticism of her comeback in the Ski World Cup. The 40-year-old ski racer openly admitted that the past few weeks have not been easy for them. “I won’t be lying, the last few weeks have been hard,” wrote Vonn. The reason for the personal disappointments was the failed world championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria.
Despite everything, Vonn made it clear that her love for skiing drives her. But there were so many negative voices. “People who don’t believe in me. People who say that I am too old and slowly. People who question my character. People who say I should make room because my time has expired …” She knew, That it is only a few voices of many, according to Vonn. “But it still hurts.”
The former Olympic champion emphasized that she was trying to stay strong, even though she too was only a person. “I wish I could have done it better, but I didn’t do it. I did my best with what I had,” wrote Vonn and promised not to give up. She continues to believe in herself and in achieving her goals through hard work.
Vonn had returned to the World Cup in December after almost six years of break. Since then she has made headlines regularly – positive and negative. In the meantime, the two-time world champion and 82-time World Cup winner is driving in his knee with a partial prosthesis. Nevertheless, she performed well this season in the meantime and was even able to reach some top ten places.
At the World Cup in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, however, the former speed queen did not go according to plan. In the Super-G she left, in the departure she only came in 15th. In the team combination, which she would have liked to contest with Mikaela Shiffrin, she ended up in 16th place with AJ Hurt. Despite the setbacks, Lindsey remains focused. Her big goal is the 2026 Olympics, she had already emphasized several times.
