Gina Lückenkemper actually wanted to compete in the Istaf Indoor in Berlin. However, nothing becomes of it. It is injured.

The former 100-meter European champion Gina Lückenkemper has to end the indoor season prematurely. The reason for this is a muscle injury in the right thigh. The 26-year-old sprinter will pause for several weeks and will therefore also miss the ISTAF Indoor in Berlin on Friday, as the organizers of the athletics meeting announced.

Lückenkemper suffered the injury last Sunday at the preliminary run of the ISTAF Indoor in Düsseldorf. In addition, the relay third of the Olympic Games in Paris will not be able to take part in the European Halle Championship in March in Apeldoorn, Dutch.

Long jumping star Malaika Mihambo will also be missing from the ISTAF Indoor in the capital. The 31-year-old had started the year 2025 with strong performances, but is now canceled at short notice due to an infection. Previously, Mihambo won the meetings in Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Karlsruhe, where she achieved the current world year best with 7.07 meters.

Last year Mihambo won the silver medal despite a Corona infection at the Olympic Games in Paris and then ended her season prematurely.
