After the end of last season, Red Bull pulled the ripcord and replaced Sergio Pérez by the top talent Liam Lawson. This hopes for a positive impulse in the F1 racing team.
“I am excited to work with him,” said Max Verstappen in an interview with the in -house media full of anticipation. “I hope that we can be a little more stable and balanced,” added the Dutch.
The balance in the team was actually the big shortcoming that Red Bull held in the previous year to intervene in the fight for the constructor crown. Because while Verstappen came to 437 World Cup points at the end of the year and thus clearing the driver’s title, Sergio Pérez won just 152 points.
Overall, the following applies: “The last year was very challenging. Of course we had good moments, but also bitter moments,” he recalled. With the many setbacks in 2024, Verstappen does not want to deal for too long. “I think the whole team is looking forward,” said the team leader.
Hunt for the next F1 title
The hunt for the fifth World Cup title starts Verstappen a little more relaxed this year. The attitude is identical. “My minimum honestly didn’t change. Of course it was a dream to win four titles – even more than a dream,” he emphasized.
However, he is already burning to duel with the new Red Bull on the route with his rivals, the series world champion clarified. “I’m just excited to find out how competitive we are,” said the 27-year-old.
Since the internal chopping order between the teams is still unclear, Verstappen is still reluctant to forecast for the course of the season.
“As soon as you know if you are competitive, you set a few goals. But it is too early for that,” said Verstappen. However, the high-flyer should hardly be satisfied with less than the new World Cup title.
