Cairo (dpa-AFX)-In view of the pressure by US President Donald Trump, Egypt has announced his own reconstruction plan for the largely destroyed Gaza strip. “Egypt underlines his will to present a comprehensive vision for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, in a way that ensures that the Palestinians can remain in their fatherland and be preserved,” said the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the news platform X.
The government in Cairo wanted to work with Trump to create a fair peace in the region, the statement said. The two-state solution with a Palestinian state on the side of Israel is the only way to stability.
Trump had recently caused unrest in the Middle East and global outrage with his controversial plans for the future of the Gaza Strip. He announced that the United States would take over the area, which permanently move around two million residents into Arab countries in the region and transform the destroyed coastal strips into an economically flourishing “Riviera of the Middle East”.
