There is an impressive fleet in front of the driveway of the house on the Westerwijzend. Fire brigade, police, employees of the Environment Service: they are all there. It indicates that the find is not one of a few weed plants, although the police cannot say anything about the size. The research is in full swing.
The raid is the result of an ongoing investigation. Neighbors see a lot of consternation next to them. “It’s not the first time,” says a neighbor sober. She refers to an earlier invasion of the FIOD, in August 2023. The reason was then a possible kidnapping of a then 36-year-old truck driver.
4 million fake cigarettes
During the search for the man, the police came across a Laanweg in Andijk in a shed on a load of Four million fake cigarettes And seven thousand kilos of tobacco. The man’s truck was found in the same shed, but not the man himself. He returned a day and a half later.
Whether there has been a connection between the loss and the discovery of the illegal means has never become clear. In September 2023, the police stopped the investigation due to a lack of starting points. At the time, the truck driver did not want to respond to the possible kidnapping or his involvement in the illegal cigarettes. The FIOD then also silent a possible find in the yard.
“You’re not just taken”
Whether the truck driver – also the owner of the shed where the raid was made – is not known at the neighbors. “But yes, you’re not just taken,” says the neighbor. “Sometimes you sometimes hear something there in the evening. But he often also drives in the evening, for Albert Heijn. We are never really nuisance and have normal contact with that family.”
