Dutch lessons are of course important. They must be able to speak Dutch, to know their rights and to understand the legislation, but it is not always obvious, and not just as easy for everyone to learn Dutch. ”

Kortrijk naturally wants to encourage people to learn Dutch. But that should be supportors anyway, otherwise they will lose their living wage. The now more strict approach makes little sense, says the VZW A’kzie.
