Jack White has commented online about what demands he has at a concert. And what expectations he will not meet on purpose.
The former White-Stripes front man published his sixth solo album “No Name” last August. He is currently in the middle of a tour of North America. On Tuesday (February 11th) the musician will play the first of two shows in Brooklyn. The musician has a lot to say about the performance length in advance.
Is the show duration a criterion for a good show?
In an Instagram post on February 8, Jack White announced his thoughts about the current status of fan expectations regarding the length of a setlist and production values. “I have heard a lot of talk about this glorious electrical tour throughout the year about how long our sets should ‘be on stage,” he wrote. “As if the length of a show determines how ‘good’ it is. I know that we live in a time when people like to say: ‘So and so last night played for three hours!’ And brag the next day. Hahaha. I now let our fans know that I do not intend to ‘impress’ you in this context. The Beatles and the Ramones played 30-minute sets. And if I could, I would do that in this part of my artist life too. That would actually be the type of show that I would like to perform now. “
A half-hour Ramones concert:
He continued to deal with the fact that some fans would feel “justified” due to the high ticket prices. “I think you talk about an arena laser light show with Pyro and huge screens with ready-made videos. In addition singers: inside that fly over the crowd, T-shirt cannons, etc.-that’s not the kind of show we play. ”
A Jack White concert from 2024:
“There is no setlist. And the show is not a Marvel film or a Vegas residence. It is rock and roll and it is a living, breathing organism, ”he concluded. “We’ll see you in the hall tonight, friends. I love you all so much. And thank you for coming to these shows in line and paying your hard earned money so that it can go on. And the crew and the boys in the band all love you as much as I do. We are grateful – thank you. “

But what songs does he play now?
If you may have the numbers for the setlist: Jack White’s youngest setlists were usually between 20 and 25 songs long.
In addition to songs from “No Name”, the setlist included songs from his entire career, including the White Stripes and The Raconteurs tracks.
