Borussia Mönchengladbach missed the third victory in series in the fight for international starting places. The eleven of the Lower Rhine did not get out of a 1-1 (1: 1) in the Bundesliga home game against Eintracht Frankfurt. The SGE, which remained undefeated in the ninth game against Gladbach, is still third in the table.
The hosts missed the leap into the upper third of the table. In front of 54,000 spectators in the Borussia Park, Frankfurt’s top attacker Hugo Ekitiké (31st minute) equalized the Gladbach leadership by national player Tim Kleindienst (26th).
Both coaches went into the game with a job worried and surprised with their personnel changes. For example, Gladbach’s Florian Neuhaus came to a starting fine for the first time this season and represented the injured Rocco Reitz, who was missing the foal as well as Franck Honorat. Neuhaus should provide the playful accents alongside Julian Weigl in the defensive midfield. The goalkeeper small service, which was pausing during the week with calf problems, became fit in time.
The Frankfurters started with their winter newcomer Michy Bathshuayi, who is supposed to compensate for the loss of the sold scorer Omar Marmoush. The Hessen also had to do without their injured defender Robin Koch. Trainer Dino Toppmöller therefore switched to a defensive chain of four.

However, the guests did not prevent the Borussen’s initial swing, which came to good opportunities and also benefited from Neuhaus. The midfielder kept causing danger with clever passes. So the 1-0 lead through the header of small service came about.
Until then, the Frankfurters had little offensive scenes, but used the first good chance by Ekitiké to compensate after Borussia’s goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas was able to steer a shot from Hugo Larsson to the crossbar. Then the ball fell in front of the Eintracht striker. Shortly afterwards, Frankfurt’s goal scorer was Pech when he could only steer a pass from Ansgar Knauff to the inner post.
Both teams gave themselves nothing in the overall very balanced game and characterized by many duels. The Frankfurters always remained dangerous with their strong offensive players, but the punch of Marmoush was missing. Substitute Can Uzun awarded a good opportunity, but which failed on the strong Gladbach keeper Nicolas.
