Natalie Armbruster ran on the podium at the World Cup in Estonia. In Otepää, on Saturday (February 8th, 2025) she was able to make up for a few places after a rather moderate jump result. The Norwegian Ida Marie Hagen secured the victory again.
Armbruster went into the race as a seventh with 42 seconds behind, her third career victory was almost out of reach with just five kilometers. Especially since Hagen started the best runner in the field in front of her. The Norwegian ultimately got superior and despite a little fall on the home stretch with a big lead over Sprunglieger Haruka Kasai from Japan her seventh win. For crossbowers, it was about at least reaching third place. Ultimately, she also managed that because she kept the upper hand in the target sprint against Yuna Kasai (Japan).
With Maria Gerboth, another DSV combinator made it to the top ten. She finished eighth with 1: 33.9 minutes behind Hagen. Jenny Nowak, third at the mass start on Friday, was 15th (+2: 43.5 minutes). Armbruster defended her leadership in the overall World Cup. With 885 points, she has 72 points ahead of Haruka Kasai, Hagen is 103 points ago.
Jump under adverse conditions
Difficult conditions on the Tehvandi ski jump in Otepää had not made it easy for the combiners in the morning in the first part of their competition. Especially with the free -standing and unprotected facility in Estonia, the wind can quickly develop into a problem. This led to delays, some athletes had to wait longer and down from the bar. And even when there were green, the changing winds sometimes caused very short jumps. Finnin Petra Torvinen, for example, had to land after 51 meters and thus more than 40 meters behind the top.
The global crossbower did not gain its best jump. She was a little late at the table, she also wiggled when landing and therefore got points deductions. With this she only lined up in seventh place. The Japanese Haruka Kasai showed the longest jump at 96 meters and was also the first to go to the trail.
Haasch falls on landing
Maria Gerboth landed before the crossbow, who had taken over the yellow jersey a week ago with her victory at the Seefeld triple. She starts five seconds before her teammate. Nowak wiggled vigorously in the air on her jump and has 1:49 minutes behind as a 13th.
Sophia Maurus was disqualified because of a too great suit. Cindy Haasch experienced a moment of shock the day after her fifth place in the mass start. She tortured at the jump and slammed on her left side. After a little treatment time, she was brought out of the run on a stretcher. She then complained about pain in the left knee and did not take part in the cross -country skiing. According to national coach Eric Frenzel, the cruciate ligament is not affected.
