Women’s World Cup jumping in Lake Placid became a nerve game. Because the wind blew too changeable, the jury decided on a new attempt to start from 0.15 a.m. (in the livestream).

In frosty temperatures of minus 10 degrees and extremely windy conditions, Germany’s best ski jumper Katharina Schmid on the large Olympic hill in Lake Placid actually wanted to move closer to the overall World Cup Prevent Nica Prevc (SLO). But the decision is delayed.

Long waiting times until the decision

The partly stormy winds in the US state of New York caused numerous, sometimes long interruptions on Friday (07.02.25) and did not bring any consistently good conditions.

Pola Beltowska had shown what would have been possible in a good wind window at the first World Cup of women in Lake Placid in the first attempt. The Polish set up after 131 meters and thus achieved a new ski jump record.

However, the competition was canceled after 13 athletes. After the men’s qualifications, there should now be a new attempt for women at 0.15 a.m. (CET).
