ANDPUYEN, (askanews) – Almost 2,000 hectares of forest were destroyed in the province of Chubut, in the south of Argentina, in one of the first large forest fires of the southern summer in the country, following a strong wave of heat. Among the various outbreaks in Patagonia, the largest developed in the Epuyen area, at 1,750 km south of Buenos Aires. The governor of the province of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, spoke, without providing precise figures, of some wounded among people who tried to recover objects from their homes. About 200 families have been evacuated. Dozens of homes are burned and the strong wind has made the shutdown operations difficult.
To date the balance is of One dead and hundreds of evacuated.
The governor stressed that “Two fires broke out simultaneously ”in forest areas difficult to reach. He worries the summer very dry and without rain, with the extreme heat this week: 17 provinces (out of 24) are on the alert and Buenos Aires are expected 37 degrees.
