The exceptional biathlete from Norway crowned the Olympic champion again as a 40-year-old. In Sochi, Björndals won gold in the sprint and mixed season in 2014. But the most successful biathlete of history has not yet calmed down.
In March 2016, at the age of 42, he cleared again at the World Cup in Oslo’s World Cup: gold in the season, silver in the sprint and in the persecution and bronze in the mass start. Only when he missed the qualification for the 2018 Olympics did Björndalen ended his career.
He holds the record of the oldest overall World Cup leader and that of the oldest World Cup race winner.
