A concrete plain with guard boxes and a closed kiosk: the OV node in Gieten is functional, but certainly not a place where you would like to stay longer than necessary. That could be better, according to the province of Drenthe and the municipality of Aa and Hunze. That is why travelers can now think along about a makeover. Should there be more color? Music? Or just a decent place to get a cup of coffee?
In the meantime, the province is also looking for a new manager for the kiosk, which has been vacant since October.
This morning, deputy Henk Jumelet (CDA) and alderman Richard Heling (VVD) were present at the bus station in Gieten to talk to travelers. With chocolate bars, apples and a card with a QR code to the survey, they asked people about their wishes.
Guido Garden, a regular traveler, sees some points for improvement. “For example, apply a lick of paint, so that it brightens up a bit here.” Jumelet understands garden. “It can be a bit more colorful and warmer. When the kiosk is open, there is of course more social safety. A lot is destroyed here, especially at the bicycle shed, that must be done differently.”
