Career
Valentin Stalf, born in Vienna in 1985, grew up in an environment that inspired him early on to break new ground. After graduating from high school, he decided to study bachelor in business administration and general management at Sophia University in Tokyo. During this time, he could not only grow professionally, but also culturally by gaining a deep understanding of the international economic world, as he explained in a Q&A on the website of his company. Later his path led him to the renowned University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, where he completed his master’s degree in accounting and finance in 2012.
During his studies, he gained initial professional experience with Roland Berger in the area of management consultancy and in the investment department of Deutsche Bank. In 2012 he joined Rocket Internet, a leading startup-inkubator, and was largely involved in the construction of the Payment startups Paymill and Payleven, as can be seen from his LinkedIn profile. This experience finally led to the foundation of Number26 in 2013, together with Maximilian Tayenthal. With the vision of completely digitizing and simplifying banking, he laid the foundation for N26, one of the most famous mobile banks in Europe.
