Palmwine Icecream made his debut in Berlin on Monday and showed a collection with which designer Kusi Kubi reflected his life and the associated experiences.
“Life Moodboard” – The Moodboard of Life – was presented in the Artspace Halle am Berghain, adjacent to the famous club of the same name. Leather also played a leading role in the collection, but significantly more colorful and more playful than the rather dark looks for which the local techno scene is known.
Batik-like patterns and colors such as green, pink, brown and various yellow tones were seen on the upcycling leather. It was elaborately dyed by hand, said the brand based in London. Asymmetrical cuts and cut-outs on the legs got the statistical material in motion.
Kubi is inspired by his Ghanaian roots and the Kantamanto Secondhand market in the capital Accra. For HW25, in addition to the recycled leather, he also used wood, Raffia, Kalebassen and Deadstock materials.
