The UEFA restricts who can play in the European betting boards after the winter transfer window.
The rules of the UEFA say: The clubs can register in the Champions League, the Europa League and the Conference League after completing the league and a maximum of three new players before the start of the KO phase. So if a club gets more than three new players in winter, he would have to decide which other he at least sorted out at European level or which new players he will leave out internationally. The new players will have to be reported to the UEFA until midnight next Thursday.
The old regulation that players are not entitled to play if they had previously played for other clubs from the same competition has not been valid since 2018.
A maximum of 25 players on the “A-list”
Another restriction: The maximum number of players on the so-called A list of a club is also 25. For example, three new players are added to the list and there are already 25 players there, the respective club must also three from the A list.
When putting together the A list, eight “locally trained players” must be there. These are players who were registered in total three complete seasons between their 15th and 21st birthday either to the respective club (“trained by the club”) or with other clubs from their national association (“trained by the association”). The seasons do not have to follow.
At most four of these eight players may fall into the “trained by the association” category.
B list enables nomination of youth players
Other young players can be reported via the so -called B list – in unlimited number until midnight a day before the respective game.
Requirements:
- The player must have been born on or after January 1, 2003.
- According to the regulations, the player must have been entitled to play for the relevant association for a maximum of one year for a lending to an association of the same association for the relevant association with an interruption of a maximum of one year for two consecutive years.
A maximum of 23 players in action on the match day
With the B list, the clubs can fill gaps in the A list, for example for locking or injuries.
On the matchday, the coaches then have to decide based on A and B list: In addition to the eleven players on the square, a maximum of twelve are allowed on the bench.
