New electronic equipment entering the market will not be tested in advance. Last year, Tukes removed dozens of products considered to be dangerous from the sale.

Safety and Chemicals Agency Tukes tells It has removed 56 electrical equipment from the market last year due to safety deficiencies. Of these, 33 of the most dangerous were prescribed for the return procedure, ie also collected from consumers. During the year, Tukes tested a total of 267 devices in the laboratory.
Tukes’s leading expert Seppo Niemi states in the agency’s announcement that the control of electrical equipment is now increasingly focused on e -commerce.
– E -commerce monitoring works by studying the supply of online marketplaces or searching and purchasing products based on announcements in Tukes, says Niemi.
Compliance with safety requirements is controlled on a risk -based basis. New electrical equipment on the market has not been pre -inspected since Finland joined the European Union in 1995.
Euro gets a euro product
Tukes says in his announcement that the price of the product often also indicates its quality. According to the authority, the safety of one’s own and their loved ones can influence the safety of their own and their relatives.
Niemi points out that if the consumer orders a product from an outside EU e -commerce store, the consumer may have to be responsible for the consequences if the device proves dangerous or causes damage.
– There is no responsibility in Europe for which the product could be returned and claimed compensation. Products are not necessarily intended for the EU region and thus do not always meet EU safety requirements, Niemi advises.
Manufacturer’s promise
The manufacturing chain of a single device can be very complicated, and many devices consist of several different sub -components that the final manufacturer of the device connects and sells as a whole.
– The manufacture and import of safe electrical equipment requires companies to manage several things, such as ensuring the safety of every device and a set of equipment, and sufficient self -monitoring and quality control, Niemi opens.
“The CE brand is a manufacturer’s insurance that the product meets the requirements of it and therefore received free movement in the EU,” he continues.
While a cheap electrical device may look the same externally as much more expensive branded in the EU online store, there may be significant differences in the interior of the products. For example, last November, the Chinese copies that showed the Apple chargers externally revealed serious safety deficiencies.
