In the Bundesliga Bundesliga, Eintracht Frankfurt against VfL Wolfsburg has remained pale for long distances. Thanks to a strong final phase and Joker Can Uzun, the SGE took another point.

Frankfurt and Wolfsburg separated 1-1 (0-0) on Sunday. At first, Eintracht defender Tuta (50th minute) hit his own network unhappily. The 19-year-old one-person player Can Uzun (81st) achieved the equalization late. The Eintracht now has 38 points through the point and secures third place. Wolfsburg misses the leap to a European Cup square and slips to tenth (29 points).

Wolfsburg’s Hasenhüttl: “Unfortunately punished”

Wolfsburg coach Ralph Hasenhüttl struggled after the game with the late equalization of the Frankfurter, but still praised his team’s committed appearance: “We defended it very well for a long time, but not on a flank. Unfortunately, we were punished for that today.”

The Frankfurters, who could have expanded the lead to fifth place with a win to eight points, were satisfied with the draw after the game. SGE coach Toppmöller said in the Sportschau interview: “I believe that we would have lost such games last year. So that’s a step forward and we are happy to take the point with us.”

Wolfsburg’s Maehle has early lead on the foot

VfL Wolfsburg initially shaped the lively initial phase. After two minutes, defender Joakim Maehle had the lead on his foot. The striking Tiago Tomas flanked from the right, Maehle suddenly stood completely bare on the second post. However, he clearly put his volley over the goal.

Frankfurt also registered a little later. The SGE went well when she was able to open her passing game in peace. In this way, Ansgar Knauff was staged at the sixteen. The Eintracht offensive man pulled off and presented Wolfsburg’s goalkeeper Kamil Grabara with the first challenge – but the pole reacted brilliantly (7th).

After that, the hosts had to put a damper away: Defender Robin Koch stayed his shoulder after an air two-fighter with Jonas Wind and had to hit it early. He was replaced by Rasmus Kristensen (15th).

Frankfurt struggles, Wolfsburg more determined

Despite one or the other bright spot, it was a rather pale appearance of the home side. Frankfurt struggled, despite more possession of the ball and a better duel rate (55 percent), had a lot of effort with the playful Wolfsburg. The SGE acted quite passively, hardly came to the switching game and took a long time to conquer the ball.

VfL was more dangerous, Mathias Svanberg was awarded another good opportunity (32nd). In half one, Frankfurt gave up only three shots on goal, Wolfsburg six.

Frankfurt’s Tuta with a serious mistake against Amoura

Almost logically, the “wolves” of the Eintracht missed an ice -cold shower after the restart – with the simplest means. Konstantino’s Koulieraki hit a long ball into the top out of the chain of four, Jonas Wind extended with his head – and then Eintracht defender Tuta undertook a serious mistake.

The latter only paid attention to Amoura’s body in a duel, did not go to the ball, but only wanted to put a block. But Tuta chose the wrong side, Amoura escaped on the other and got the tip of the foot on the ball. To make matters worse, Tuta falsified the ball decisively over the leg of SGE goalkeeper Kevin Trapp – own goal.

Curious: Wolfsburg’s Grabara is injured in the kick -off

Frankfurt almost succeeded shortly afterwards: Nathaniel Brown found the completely free -standing Arthur Theater with a free kick from the left. But his header defused VfL goalkeeper Grabara with a strong parade (55th).

A few minutes later, Grabara was the focus again, but with a curious scene. He stepped into the lawn at a kick -off and had to be treated afterwards. The VfL stammer goalkeeper did not go any further. After 93 games in the 2nd Bundesliga for Kaiserslautern and Schalke, 31-year-old Marius Müller came to his Bundesliga debut and first competitive game for Wolfsburg.

Frankfurt-Joker Uzun.

And in the last 15 minutes Müller also got something to do. Because Frankfurt reared up. Eintracht increased the number of strokes, followed up much more aggressive and suddenly was fully there.

Hugo Ekitiké initially hit the slatted cross (77th) with a tight shot from an acute angle. But Frankfurt rewarded himself with the equalization shortly afterwards. Striker talent Can Uzun, who had replaced Ellyes Skhiri in the 68th minute, was served by Jean-Matteo Bahoya and headed to compensate. Frankfurt continued, Uzun awarded a top chance (90.+4). In the end it stayed with the draw.
