The world champion coach apparently continues to wait for the right opportunity for a comeback. However, he knocked out a highly endowed offer.

For 15 years, Joachim Löw, as national coach, headed the fortunes of the German national team, reached the highlight of his term in 2014 by winning the World Championship. After weaker to disappointing years, Löw resigned from his post after the European Championships in 2021, which he has held since 2006.

Since then, the former successful trainer has been without a job-in the meantime, it was probably a very lucrative offer: The “Sport Bild” reported on Friday that Löw had received an offer in 2023 to become a new national coach Saudi Arabia-for a salary of 25 million euros per year.

According to the Italian, Roberto Mancini, who ultimately took over the state selection of the Kingdom, earned so much. It would have been the highly endowed contract in Löw’s career – and yet the Black Forest said no. According to “Sport Bild”, for Löw at this point in his career but money “not only decisive” when choosing new professional challenges.

Löw excludes a final resignation. For example, the 64-year-old only explained “SWR Sport” last November: A return as a coach of a national team could be questioned, “if I’m really interested and I find the task exciting.”

A comeback as a club trainer, however, seems almost excluded-most recently Löw looked after a club team with Austria Vienna in the 2003-04 season. According to “Sport Bild”, his big wish will remain a further participation in a world or European championship- preferably as early as 2026 in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
