At his farewell to the De Wolden city council, VVD member Marcel Hulst was a royal distinguished. He was appointed Member in the Order of Oranje-Nassau.
Mayor Inge Nieuwenhuizen pinned the Royal Award last night. She called Hulst ‘Roll -resistant’ and a ‘fan of the debate’. “You are pre -eminently able to structure arguments in a simple way. And you are constructive, whether you are in the opposition or coalition.”
Hulst has been a councilor in De Wolden since 2010, in recent years he was the party leader of the VVD. The resident of Veeningen is no longer able to combine council membership with his work. He recently received a new position at the Ministry of Security and Justice.
“It is a great honor to receive this award,” said a visibly happy holly, who stated that he would miss the council work. “It feels a bit strange. It is not easy to leave this behind me,” he said in the council about the fifteen years. “I am just ‘resident Hulst’ again and I don’t have to find anything anywhere.”
The released VVD council seat is taken by an old acquaintance: Ruud Smit returns to the Council of De Wolden.
