Minerva Hase and Nikita Volodin ran into gold at the Figure Art Run EM in Tallinn/Estonia. The couple prevailed on Thursday with an increase in performance towards the end of the freestyle against the Italians Conti/Macii.

Starostess missed in the freely final

Nikita Starostin missed the qualification for the Kürfinals after a failed short program. The 22-year-old was the only German participant, with 63.54 points, only finished 27th. Only the best 24 men take part in Estonia’s capital on the freestyle on Saturday (5:00 p.m./Sportschau.de).

The Frenchman Adam Siao Him FA is in the lead with 93.12 points. Last year Starostin was 13th at the European Championship. This time the German champion was far from that.

Born in Russia, German citizenship received at the end of December and would be eligible to start the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo next year.

For the German ice skating union, the departure of Starostin is the next disappointment in a single competition at the European Championship. On Wednesday, Kristina Isaev had already missed the freestyle as 28th in the women’s short program.
