At the De Brug campsite on Sint Sebastianusstraat in Herpen, a fierce fire raged on Thursday evening and night for the second time this month. The fire destroyed a chalet that may acted as a café.
The flames grabbed quickly. In a short time, the whole chalet was lit up.
Barely
The fire brigade could barely prevent the fire from spreading to a chalet nearby. Furthermore, the fire brigade managed to secure some gas bottles quickly.
This time, the fire brigade also chose to work extremely carefully and to extinguish the fire under cover and low to the ground. That was also the method during two earlier fires at this campsite. The last fire took place on Wednesday evening, January 15, and just like Thursday evening around half -twalf arose. Also on 10 April 2024 a chalet was destroyed by fire at this campsite.
Arson
According to the fire brigade service officer, there may be arson. This also took this into account in the fire of more than two weeks ago. Then a jerry can was found. It was seized by the police for an investigation.
Residents of the campsite received a letter from the owner last month. He indicated that the lease for all stacking is being canceled on the campsite, it reported BD recently. According to the letter, the standing places must be delivered empty and clean by 1 June 2026 at the latest.
