“A textbook example of an undermining criminal,” the Public Prosecution Service (OM) describes the suspect. This image comes out of intercepted encrypted messages. The chats obtained show that K. was involved in (and the preparations for) the trade in cocaine. In addition, according to the messages, he used a taxi driver, whom he instructed to transport drugs and money. This driver would be the same 48-year-old man who was sentenced last September to 30 months in prison for drug trafficking.
40 Hotel Keycards
According to the public prosecutor, the suspect of a hotel in Oostzaan operated. “He is registered in the home of his wife and children, but actually lives in a large hotel chain,” said the officer during the session. K. was arrested at the hotel in June 2022.
There he would have booked nearly 200,000 euros in hotel rooms in two years, sometimes several rooms at the same time. “His hotel room turned out to be furnished as his living room, including its own clothes rack and candy pot, but also with a drug supply for own use and a charged firearm,” the officer said. “Hotel management has closed its eyes for this state of affairs, while the K. ran in his pocket with nearly forty keycards of the hotel.”
Repay to the state
K. would also have been actively involved in amateur football club OFC Oostzaan for years as a criminal money. The municipality of Oostzaan has made several attempts to keep him away from the club. Ultimately, it was determined as a condition for the permit that he had to withdraw completely from the club.
The Public Prosecution Service (OM) said during the hearing that the suspect has earned the money he has earned with his criminal activities to the State. The FIOD has investigated his expenses and calculated that he has earned around 900,000 euros with drug trafficking.
