Skir racer Linus Straßer again showed a strong performance a few days before the start of the alpine world championships, but just missed the first podium of the season.
The 32-year-old finished fourth in the night slalom of Schladming. In 2022 and last year he won the prestigious and atmospheric event on the Planai.
Once again, Straßer was in front of 22,500 spectators, including national soccer coach Julian Nagelsmann, after the first round on victory course. Ultimately, however, the Norwegian Timon Haugan won ahead of the Austrians Manuel Feller and Fabio Grein. Straßer fell back three places in the final.
He was “cool” in the first run, analyzed the Athlete from TSV 1860 Munich. Especially in the top section of the route, he convinced that he might have been able to get a little more out in the lower one.
The World Cup general rehearsal should nevertheless give the Wahl Tyrolean a thrust for the title fights in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria from February 4th to 16th. There he is the largest German medal hope with slalom colleague Lena Dürr.
