The Eisbären Berlin have announced that Tobias Eder died. The ice hockey player suffered from cancer and was only 26 years old.
Ice hockey player Tobias Eder is dead. The Eisbären Berlin, Eder’s team, announced on Wednesday. The club is “under shock”. In August 2024, a malignant tumor was discovered in the 26-year-old. Because his condition had now deteriorated, the polar bears canceled a league game yesterday. Now Eder has died of the complications of cancer.
“Unfortunately, Tobi has not won his hardest fight. It is impossible to find the right words now. Dear Tobi, you will be missing,” said the polar bears in a statement. “Our deep sympathy applies to his family, his fiance, his friend and everyone who knew and appreciated him. In this difficult time we are in my thoughts,” it continues.
Eder had played with the Berliners since 2023 and was on the ice 52 times last season. Previously, the attacker has already stormed for Düsseldorf and Munich in the highest German division. In 2021, Eder debut in the German national team, in 2024 he was in the World Cup squad.
