The violation of Felix Nmecha whirls personnel planning at Borussia Dortmund. Now the club is getting back a professional award.
Midfielder Salih Öczan will again appear for Borussia Dortmund in the future. The 27-year-old was awarded VfL Wolfsburg by BVB until the very end. But the club ordered the Turkish international early.
Interim coach Mike Tullberg had just said a little more reluctantly to the personnel. “I can confirm that this is in the planning to bring him back,” he said. “I can’t say more either. It’s not yet final.” A few hours later, the return is perfect.
Özcan has been under contract in Dortmund since 2022. BVB signed him from Cologne for five million euros at the time. However, Özcan could not completely convince in the black and yellow jersey. Tullberg had already emphasized in advance: “He will be out for weeks with his knee. I can confirm that.” NMECHA was injured at 2-2 against Werder Bremen at the weekend. The ligaments of the 24-year-old are probably affected.
The DFB professional will also fail on Wednesday. Then the BVB meets Schachtar Donetsk in the last group game of the Champions League. The game is also another test for Tullberg. With a victory, the Dane may put itself in a good position to look after Dortmund as the successor to the dismissed Nuri Şahin in the coming weeks.
Most recently, the BVB bosses had exchanged intensively with Niko Kovač about his possible commitment as a coach in Dortmund. Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl should even have traveled to Salzburg to convince the Croats of the task.
