The speed with which our oceans heat up has more than quadrupled over the past four decades, according to a new study in the scientific journal Environmental Research Letters. At the end of the 1980s, the ocean temperatures increased by around 0.06 ° C per decade, now that is no less than 0.27 ° C. This research helps to explain why our oceans were so hot in 2023 and 2024.
