Voting practice in the new music competition will be renewed, Yle reports. In the UMK final on February 8, Finland’s representative will be selected for the May Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland.
Yle says viewers can vote this year as soon as the first presentation begins.
In last year’s UMK Final, the vote only began after all performances had been seen.
The new voting practice was already in use at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in Malmö.

The weight of the UMK vote remains the same. The weight of the public sounds is 75 % and the weight of international professional juries is 25 %.
– The winner of the UMK winner and Finland’s next Eurovision representative will be determined above all by Finnish voters. By extending the voting time, we want to give voters more time to support their favorite, and at the same time we hope this year will be collected by an all-time UMK vote, UMK’s main producer Anssi Autio says in the bulletin.
Voting is free with the YLE application, but by phone and text message. The return on a paid vote will be donated to Mielä ry.
At the same time, Yle announced the finals order. The first appearance Costeelast Erika Vikman. In total, six artists compete in the finals.

A year ago voting facility
Last year there were problems with the public vote of the new music competition. The Yle app stopped working from many users. The situation was then titled as a “voting station”.
– As in previous years, there were too many voters for a moment. The systems were simply clogged. Suddenly, if there are tens of thousands of users in a minute, it will not last. But it did not prevent the sounds that the sounds were received, Anssi Autio explained to Iltalehti.
Autio said at the time that the application will be developed in the future so that the same would not happen.
Last year, a total of 224,477 votes were cast in the UMK final.
