Arjaan de Hullu, founder of the sculpture garden in Gees, died. The Hullu started in 1991 with images in Gees. He did that with his then wife Hielke, who died in 2019.
The garden and gallery attracted several tens of thousands of visitors for years. Artists from home and abroad presented their work there. That yielded the sculpture garden in 2001 the cultural prize of Drenthe. In the past the garden was visited by Queen Beatrix.
The sculpture garden was sold in 2011. In April last year, the garden opened with new owners and under a new name: Big Art & Garden.
Arjaan de Hullu died on January 19.
