Matthias Sammer’s double role as a consultant of Borussia Dortmund and TV expert on Amazon Prime Video continues to make a stir. Does BVB even threaten the former master coach with a termination of the collaboration?
After the “SID” reported on Monday morning that sports managing director Lars Ricken suggested Matthias Sammer to accompany the future as an expert in the future, “BILD” followed up more as an expert.
Accordingly, there is even a clear ultimatum of the BVB lead on Sammer until the middle of the current week. It is said that his consultant contract is terminated if he does not immediately impose a ban on a BVB in front of the TV camera. The outgoing club boss Hans-Joachim Watzke should also be behind this demand.
According to information from RTL/NTV and sport.de Sammer is actually thinking not to accompany BVB games as an expert in the future. In general, however, he continued to work as a TV expert and BVB consultant. “Prime Video” only announced on request not to comment on the subject at the moment.
Most recently, Sammer’s appearance was produced after the Dortmund Champions League game at Bologna FC last week.
Before Ricken in front of the “Amazon” microphone, he analyzed the weak performance of BVB in the 1: 2 bankruptcy and spoke, among other things, of a “physical and intellectual non-constitution” of the team.
BVB: Lothar Matthäus criticizes Sammer’s double role
Afterwards, record national player Lothar Matthäus criticized this. Opposite RTL/NTV and sport.de the 1990 world champion said that Sammer was not doing the BVB “if he appears as an expert and ultimately advises the sporting direction of Borussia Dortmund. That doesn’t fit. The players perceive that and that is not good”.
“In the end, someone is sitting there and has been criticizing the players for several years, but is also in the club. People who work in the club should support the team. He cannot do that with this task,” added Matthew.
Matthäus recommended that the BVB come up with a clear request to ex-European champion Sammer: “‘Either you are an expert on TV or you are one on our side’.”
That seems to have happened in the meantime.
