FC Bayern has signed Jonas Urbig from second division club 1. FC Köln. This was confirmed by Munich on Monday evening. The 21-year-old goalkeeper moves to Munich with immediate effect.

Urbig signed a contract with the German record champion until 2029 and is given the chance in Munich to recommend himself as the successor to Manuel Neuer. According to media reports, Bayern transfers a base revenue of seven million euros to the Geißbockheim for Urbig. With bonuses, the sum could increase to ten million euros.

“He is one of the most promising young goalkeepers in German football, very ambitious and has huge potential. Jonas is a modern goalkeeper who, in his way, how he interprets the goalkeeper game, fits very well with the playing style of FC Bayern,” praised Bavaria’s Sports director Christoph Freund access.

Urbig first commented: “My goal is to work professionally on me every day and to develop me in our goalkeeper group to constantly develop Manuel Neuer,” said the U21 national goalkeeper.

FC Bayern is therefore very broad in the goalkeeper position. Behind club legend Manuel Neuer, Israel’s national goalkeeper Daniel Peretz also reports on the role of the first deputy. This should now contest him in Urbig. Possible that Peretz will be awarded.

FC Bayern: Who inherited Manuel Neuer?

With veteran Sven Ulreich, the Munich also have an established keeper in the hindquarters. It is considered that Neuer extends his contract by one year to 2026. Who then inherits him? Alexander Nübel, who is currently loaned to VfB Stuttgart from FC Bayern, is particularly suitable, but has a contract in Munich until 2029.

Jonas Urbig is considered one of the largest German goalkeeper talents. The Youngster started as a stammed goalkeeper to the second division season with the 1st FC Köln, but lost his place to Marvin Schwäbe. In ten games, Urbig conceded 20 goals.
