Julian Nagelsmann has used 51 players during his tenure as national coach – including eight current BVB professionals. Some of the recently stumbling Dortmund players are currently hardly in form for the national team and the coach revealed to “Sky” that he is working on video analysis: “I have cut out a lot of scenes from the last six or seven games for all Dortmund candidates are an option for us.” (quoted via “Image”)
The current BVB professionals who played under Nagelsmann are Nico Schlotterbeck (25), Niklas Süle (29), Emre Can (31), Felix Nmecha (24), Julian Brandt (28), Maximilian Beier (22), Waldemar Anton (28) and Pascal Groß (33). The latter three moved to Dortmund in the summer of 2024, “and they will now see one or two video sequences in the coming weeks,” says Nagelsmann. From the last ten games, the Black and Yellows only got one win and left the field as losers five times. This makes the Champions League participants one of Europe’s weakest teams.
He made it clear that “it’s not about improving their game in Dortmund.” It is obvious that Borussia’s form crisis can also have an impact on the national team, after all, BVB counts alongside FC Bayern, VfB Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen is one of the clubs that are most often represented in the squads.
“It’s about assessing their game scenes based on what they need from us at some point. This happens within a very reasonable framework so that it doesn’t distract them. Of course, it’s also about having contact and showing that the player is still in focus, even if there is one or two dips in the club,” explains Nagelsmann.
The next games for the German national team after an almost four-month international break are the duels against Italy on March 20th and 23rd in the quarter-finals of the Nations League.
