The police are investigating whether there has been a break -in in the Drents Museum. On Saturday morning at 3:5 am, the police received a report of an explosion, causing surrounding buildings to be damaged. The authorities take into account a thud. It is unknown whether the perpetrators have included museum pieces. The police call on witnesses to report. The museum stays closed all weekend.
An archaeological exhibition about Dacians is currently being held in the museum in Assen. The people who lived in present -day Romania for more than 2,000 years was known for centuries for the possession of gold. That is how the Greek writer Herodotus even called the Dacians a “people covered with gold.” Also in the museum, gold jewelry is set up in black cupboards everywhere. The exhibition runs until Sunday.
