The Horrors released “More Than Life”, the fourth single from their upcoming album “Night Life”, online. The record is now the British band’s sixth studio album and will be released on March 21st – on the band’s 20th anniversary – via Fiction Records.

“More Than Life”

“‘More Than Life’ has a different kind of intensity to our last singles, it’s more driving and direct,” explains the band about their latest of the four singles, “it was written in the middle of Canary Wharf, where every day it’s more like ‘More Than Life’ Blade Runner’ looks like. It’s such a strange place to do something creative as the environment feels particularly barren.”

Before “More Than Life,” the band released the songs “The Lotus Eater,” “Trial By Fire,” and “The Silence of Remains.” The latter song was the first song to open on October 2nd, 2024. The Horrors promoted the new album with a small tour through England, celebrating their return to the public since their last album “V” in 2017. In between, in 2021, the band released two more singles – “Lout” and “Against The Blade” – which were supposed to usher in a new era for the band.

The Horrors’ first album with a new line-up

“Night Life” marks a reimagining of both the sound and the lineup. In addition to founding members Faris Badwan as vocalist and Rhys Webb on bass, Amelia Kidd on piano and Jordan Cook on drums are now also part of the line-up. It will be the band’s first LP to not feature all of the original members.

The album was created in several stages: the first demos were recorded in Webb’s apartment in North London before the band continued working with producer Yves Rothman in Los Angeles and finally completed the record in London.

“Night Life” is described by The Horrors as a kind of reflection on the thoughts and impressions that arise in the darkness, far away from the events of the day. A mixture of euphoria and melancholy.
