Former Leipzig player Brian Brobbey could leave Ajax Amsterdam for the Premier League in the current transfer window. According to consistent reports, the Dutch are negotiating a short-term transfer with West Ham United. However, a loan is out of the question for the Eredivisie club – Ajax will only be willing to give up the player if there is a permanent move or a deal that includes an obligation to buy. This is what the magazine “Voetbal International” and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano report.

The latter also reported interest from Tottenham on Friday, but they are said to have initially only submitted an initial inquiry to Ajax. With a market value of 30 million euros, the attacker is one of the most valuable professionals in his home country. To date, it is one of the most expensive sales in Leipzig’s history; Ajax transferred 16.4 million euros to Saxony in 2022 for the services of the right-footed player. Just the year before, the homegrown plant had been allowed to move to Germany free of charge. So far this season, the seven-time national player has five scorers in 17 league games, plus one goal and three assists in six Europa League games.
The troubled West Ham are looking for a new number nine in the winter after Michail Antonio broke his leg in a car accident and DFB player Niclas Füllkrug was also injured. There are financial reasons why Ajax is even willing to talk. Brobbey is one of the top earners in Amsterdam and could bring unexpectedly large sums into the club’s coffers in the event of a permanent transfer.
Last season, Ajax was already considered willing to talk to Brobbey, but a possible transfer to Nottingham Forest reportedly failed because of the player himself. The striker is also said to have turned down a move to Olympique Marseille, who were also interested.
