It is possible to immerse yourself in the world of books without plump monthly fees.
Audiobooks are highly popular, but at the same time the prices of audiobook services have risen closer to 20 euros a month, depending on the order class. However, it is possible to listen to audio and e-books for free directly from the library’s selection.
In April 2024, a joint municipal e-library opened, which was also named E-Library. Currently, 279 municipalities have joined it, with 97 % of those living in Finland.
The platform is only available in the Android and iOS environment. So far, there is no browser or desktop version of the service, although the computer is intended to be possible later on.
The good thing about the e-library is its expression. Using the coin on the side of the coin, using the substrate requires a long time for the customer.
For a long -hearted reader
Unlike, for example, audiobook streaming services such as Storytel or Bookbeat, there is a limited number of virtual volumes in the e-library. For this reason, in practice, even more popular content needs to be queued for days or even months.
After that, the service cannot automatically afford the queue, but he has to borrow it manually. If this is not done within three days, the user will lose the reservation and will be transferred to the next queue.
The loan period for books is 14 days. In total, the service user can simultaneously have a total of five audio or e-books on loan.
The book they craved may not be just there. Sometimes queuing times are up to months.
It is easy to introduce an e-library because the user does not even need a library card. Instead, the e-library logs in with Suomi.fi authentication, so either a bank ID or a mobile certificate is sufficient.
After that service Settings-In the menu, it is possible to register an entry key that allows you to log into the e-library, for example, using face recognition.
The service has been provided by the National Library and the General Libraries.
